OUR COMMUNITY

We're passionate about taking God's good news, in word and deed, to those desperate for hope in our community because His written word, the Bible, compels us to.  Teams of EAC students and adults travel to Detroit throughout the year to bring Christ's message of hope to inner-city children and families in a variety of ways.  Our students also transition between local mission trips and serving with WYAM Orlando.

  • GOOD NEWS CLUB

EAC sponsors a Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Good News Club after-school program at Edgewater Public Elementary one afternoon a week.  Trained teachers tell the children about Jesus and disciple them in the Word through Bible lessons, songs, Scripture memorization, and other fun activities.

  • PROJECT: ACTS 29

One Sunday in the fall, we dismiss early and put our love into action by going to the Edgewater Winn-Dixie to buy groceries for local food pantries and baby items for Grace House Pregnancy Center.  This year, over 340 local families were blessed with a holiday turkey and total purchases of almost $30,000 stocked our community food pantries.

  • HOT MEAL PROGRAM

The third Friday of every month, EAC's volunteers prepare and serve a free hot lunch at First United Methodist Church of New Smyrna Beach for those in need.  We also provide a free hot supper one Sunday evening a month at Edgewater United Methodist Church.

  • COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DAY DINNER

Including EAC, a large coalition of local churches and over 200 volunteers prepare and serve a free Thanksgiving Day meal with all the trimmings for 500-700 guests at First United Methodist Church of New Smyrna Beach.

  • LADIES' "QUILTING FOR GOD'S COVERING" MINISTRY

We  meet every Thursday am to make beautiful patchwork "love blankets" for local cancer patients receiving chemo treatment.  (Volunteers must know how to sew.)

  • ROOM AT THE INN

On nights when the temperature is forecast to drop below 40 degrees, we partner with area churches to provide the homeless with dinner, a safe and warm shelter, and breakfast the next morning.

  • FOOD PACKAGING

We partner with Kids Against Hunger to prepare and package meals on a Sunday morning for the world's hungry.

"For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you welcome Me, I was naked and you gave Me clothing.  I was sick, and you cared for Me.  I was in prison and you visited me.  Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see You hungry and feed You?  Or thirsty and give You something to drink?  Or a stranger and show You hospitality?  Or naked and give You clothing?  When did we ever see You sick or in prison and visit You?'  And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me."

Matthew 25:35-40
